We started Himalayan Yoga Association (aka Himalayan Yog Ashram) back in 2012, in Upper Tapovan, Rishikesh, and we're still one of the more established yoga schools in the area. Over the last decade-plus we've trained 3,000+ certified yoga teachers from more than 40 countries — not bad for a small ashram school, honestly. We're a Registered Yoga School (RYS 200 & RYS 300) with Yoga Alliance, and our senior teachers hold E-RYT 500 and YACEP® credentials, each with somewhere between 10 and 20+ years of teaching under their belt.
"Welcome on the journey of self-cultivation. Our passion for the yogic path is in our nature — we invite everyone who is willing to reconnect within and to see themselves in totality."
We run 100, 200 and 300-hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh through the year, plus Yoga & Meditation Retreats, Ashram Stay, Ayurvedic detox programs, and a few customised retreats we put together depending on the season. Every course is written and taught by our own resident teachers — nothing outsourced — and we tweak the curriculum most years to keep it in line with current Yoga Alliance standards.

Our mission's pretty simple, really: help people transform from within using practical tools that actually work, not just theory. A happy, balanced individual is what makes a happy, healthy society — it starts there, not the other way round.
A peaceful, compassionate heart spreads peace to everyone around it. And to get through life's harder moments, you need some kind of systematic way of training the mind — a healthy body, a calm mind, a happy heart. That's really what we're after here.
Our goal's simple: wake up the teacher that's already inside you, and give you a foundation solid enough to take your own practice further than you thought possible.

Live like an ashram resident for a while — structured daily routines, real spiritual practice, and plenty of room for self-discovery in the birthplace of yoga.
A proper mind-body reset that combines old-school Ayurvedic therapies with therapeutic yoga practice.
Unwind from modern-day stress with yoga therapy, meditation and a bit of nervous-system regulation thrown in.
We take a pretty holistic approach to spiritual growth here. As a yoga school in Rishikesh, our teacher training is built to help you reach an actually balanced, healthy life — not just pick up a few new poses. Learning the Himalayan tradition of yoga starts with learning how to live in balance, really.
Yoga gives you the tools to transform, slowly, into more of a spiritual being — a kind of awareness that brings happiness, inner peace, and an ongoing exploration of that infinite space inside you.
We like to call it the science of devotion — understanding, practising and passing on a lineage of teachings that's been handed down through generations of Himalayan yogis.
Join our 7-day Harmonium Kirtan Class if devotional music is your thing. Each 1-hour session walks you through mantra chanting, kirtan singing and harmonium playing step by step — works fine whether you're a total beginner or already know your way around an instrument.
Additional charges: $100 — includes 6 sessions (1 hour each).
Book Your SessionFresh Ayurvedic meals, cooked daily by our in-house chefs, who'll happily work around most food intolerances and allergies.
Our qualified Ayurvedic therapists offer massages and a handful of healing therapies, all done with good natural oils.
Practice right on the banks of the Ganga — hard to describe, but a sunrise session there tends to stick with you.
Our teachers all live and teach full-time on campus here in Rishikesh. Between the four of them, they hold Masters degrees in Yogic Science, E-RYT 500/RYT 200 Yoga Alliance certification, and something like 60+ years of combined teaching experience.

"We attended drop-in asanas in the morning for 10 days. The teachers were highly skilled, fully dedicated, super patient and motivating. We had a great time, left every class happy, balanced and energised. Thank you so much for the experience!"
"I did the YTT and it was a beautiful experience led by extraordinary teachers. I experienced yoga in its most authentic form, far beyond simple physical practice. Today I feel rooted, at peace and inspired."
The Khushi Charitable Society is a registered NGO that currently supports over 450 underprivileged children in Rishikesh, India — and it runs entirely on donations and sponsorships, no other funding.
We cover school fees, uniforms and medical bills from primary school right through university. There's a vocational centre for older students learning practical skills, and an after-school programme that gives younger kids extra study help plus a proper cooked meal, every single day.
